The Keyholder® Advantage
|
The Problem
Where is your Will? Once people create
their Will, they often forget to mention to family members where the
document is stored. There is also no guarantee that family members will
remember what you told them, or that you will be able to keep them informed
every time you move your Will to a new location. Contrary to what many
lawyers might tell you, most people do not store their Will in a safety
deposit box at a bank. A legal Will is more likely to be kept somewhere in
your home, often well hidden from prying eyes.
What are your assets? You should not
provide a detailed list of your assets in your legal Will. If you do, then
every time there is a change in your possessions, you will have to update
your Will. Instead, you should document your assets separately, such that
they can be communicated to the “Executor” of your Will after you have
passed away. Your Executor will make good use of this information to locate
all of the assets in your estate.
The Solution
When you pass away, let us worry about communicating
the location of your Will and a list of your assets. At
USLegalWills.com,
in collaboration with our parent company PartingWishes.com, we offer a
unique messaging service which allows you to describe the exact location of
your Will and to provide a detailed list of assets for your Executor.
It’s FREE. This optional service is provided for
FREE when you create a Will here at
USLegalWills.com.
There is simply no other
company that provides such a complete and convenient service to their
customers.
Your privacy is fully protected. The messages you
create which document your assets and the location of your Will are
completely private and secure. They are stored in a fully encrypted format
on our servers and no one can read them --- not even us. Furthermore, none
of the information you provide is communicated until after you have passed
away, and only to the people you specify, so you can rest assured that your
privacy is protected. And you are free to make changes any time you wish.
You control who can access your information. If you
choose to use our unique messaging service, you can designate up to 20
different “Keyholders®”. Each of these Keyholders® will be given the power to
unlock your Will and its associated information after you have passed away.
Security mechanisms to prevent unauthorized premature access to this
information are also available and are fully customizable by you.
You can even store your Will online. Storing your
Will online on our secure server is optional (and free), but it is a good
idea for a number of reasons. First of all, it allows you to make unlimited
modifications and updates to your Will without having to rewrite it each
time, and for no additional charge. (Why pay a lawyer every time you need to
update your Will?) Furthermore, although this online version of your Will is
not a legally binding document (as it is not signed and witnessed), it may
be useful to loved ones if your actual Will cannot be located.
Here’s how it works: |
 |
 |
Step 1: |
You create your Will and choose
the free option to store it online. Afterwards, you create private messages
which document the location of your Will and your list of assets, and name
at least one close friend or family member as your Keyholder®. Your Will is
stored on our secure server, but a paper copy should be printed, signed and
witnessed. |
 |
 |
Step 2: |
Your Keyholder(s)® are notified
of their responsibilities and given a secure ID to be used for accessing the
instructions for finding your Will and details of your estate after you have
passed away. If you wish, you can also send each Keyholder® their secure ID
printed onto a plastic wallet card for safe keeping. |
 |
 |
Step 3: |
You can continue to make
unlimited updates to your Will, and to modify the messages which document
the location of your Will and your list of assets, for as long as you are a
member. |
 |
 |
Step 4: |
After you pass away, your
Keyholder(s)® request to access your information. To prevent premature access
to your information, an automatic notification is sent to you explaining
that a Keyholder® is attempting to view your information. |
 |
 |
Step 5: |
If you do not respond to the
notification within a period of time specified by you, then your information
is released and made visible to your Keyholder(s)®. |
